Purpose & tasks
The self-administration of a brotherhood is particularly obliged to:
- Fulfill tasks assigned by law and regulations
- Supervise compliance with duties of maritime pilotage and determine further professional duties in its statutes within the limits of rule 22 to 26 GMPA
- Preservation and hosting of the interests of the assigned pilot districts
- Education and training of maritime pilots and apprentice maritime pilots
- Organizing enhanced education of maritime pilots
- Define the rules of duty in a regulation (Börtordnung, to be approved by the supervising authority)
- Define rules for self-administrative services
- Mediate disputes between its members upon request
- Provide and supervise compensation plans for maritime pilots and their dependants in case of retirement, job disability and death
- Collect pilot fees for its member pilots
- Define rules for distribution and distribution of pilot fees
- Transfer support for maritime pilot apprentices
- Determine the brotherhoods residence and constitution (to be approved by the supervising authority)
Budget
The expenses for the self-administration of the brotherhood are to be paid by the pilots. The financial means are to be deducted prior to the distribution of the pilot fees to the member pilots.
